Decided to go ahead and rack the 2nd batch of cider. Went smoothly. The siphon is slow, but it gets the job done. There was a pretty fair amount of yellow-green sediment on the bottom of both carboys. I don’t think the alcohol is quite as high percentage as in batch #1; probably the difference in the volume of water at the start of the two batches (I’m guessing?).
I also baked another two loaves of my Cider By-Product Baguettes…looking good! I think I’ll freeze some for Thanksgiving.
5:15 pm Still getting a bubble about every 90 seconds on the beer in the PFB, I’m hoping to rack the PFB by Tuesday and then blend with the growler. check the SG, and prime/bottle by Thursday. That would give it 2 weeks in the bottles leading up to Thanksgiving.
